I was flying from New York to Utah when I met my first Mormon.

He was sitting next to me on the plane. I'm fascinated by religion and spirituality, so I started asking questions about Mormonism.

We ended up talking for the entire flight.

I grew up around a lot of Jews in New York, but I never knowingly met a Mormon before.

A few days later, after hiking Zion National Park, I stopped for pizza. While staring into the cooler, I spotted a bottle of Mountain Dew.

For a split second, my brain read it as "Mormon Jew."

I laughed.

Then I wondered: are there any Mormon Jews out there?
